How to root lemon grass By Plant addict at 2012-02-06 21:56:54

Rooting lemon grass is pretty easy. You can root it in a glass of water.
You can get lemon grass from spanish or asian produce stores easily in USA. You will not see roots on it but the lower swollen portion will look like a tuber that will grow roots. 1. Cut the bottom 5-6" portion with tuber like stem.
2. Take a transparent glass and fill it with room temperature water and place the stem. Make sure the swollen tuber like portion be immersed in water.
3. Keep it on window sill but not in direct sun light.
4. After 2-3 days or in a week the roots will start developing.
5. When it is rooted well plant it in soil and keep it in sunny area where it gets morning sun light.
6. When the temperature rises above 70f you can plant it in your garden or grow it in 2-5 gallon container.
It makes good tea and could be used in chicken recipes. |
